By rising up against the injustices of Assad and his regime, the Syrian Woman challenged all the ideas and stereotypes that were casted on her by minds claiming wisdom and global leadership while being stagnant in international circles, such as feminists and human rights organisations, as well as [Syrian] compatriots who have blindly adopted the slogans of those organisations.

“The elite support base” — it is probably the first time this term is used; as it is more common, especially in revolutionary vocabulary, to use “popular support base.” Although the elite are considered part of the public- theoretically at least- the term “popular support base” commonly refers to “the non-elite.” “Popular support base” is used as a positive addition to a “revolution” that is led by an elite vanguard according to the terminologies of traditional revolutions, which were transferred without change to the new Arab Spring revolutions.
Paradoxically, what distinguishes the new revolutions is that they are not revolutions of the elite. This problematizes terminology and the revolution itself which has became inverted. Therefore, it is justifiable to coin the inverted term “the elite support base”, not to dispraise or to disparage. No one was able to escape the vicious circle of sectarian dictatorship without this new revolution which happened without any planning or vanguard leadership and even without any elite.

A Surrealistic Introduction
Almost nothing has changed since I last left the place. Sitting there next to the yellow jasmine tree at my mum’s house while sipping my cup of coffee has still got the very same effect on the soul. I sat there, waiting to wake up from a dream that kept recurring a lot during my recent expatriate years of immigration. I was sure something in the dream will definitely take me back to my comfortable bed under that inclined European ceiling. When awake, man can usually distinguish between reality and fantasy, yet for sure, in our expatriate life we did learn how to differentiate between those two extremes even when we’re dreaming.
I woke up of course. I slowly walked into the bathroom; and I shall skip some of the details of what happened with me there! I looked for my glasses, made myself a cup of coffee and went out to the balcony… I sat near the yellow jasmine tree. The sun was shining… Damascus’s sun… Damascus’s air… Damascus’s traffic and voices speaking my same language… Even the microbus flashing by like an arrow, causing unbearable noise, and releasing enough carbon dioxide to pollute half of Europe. استمر في القراءة

“نحن مثلكم ” كتب حسين عبشيف في رسالته واستطرد قائلاً ” نحن نعرف ان الحياة ليست سهلة ” وحسين يعي ما يقوله تماماً وهو الطفل الصومالي الذي يعيش في مخيم داداب, أكبر مخيم لاجئين في العالم وقد كتب حسين رسالته هذه إلى اللاجئين السوريين من الأطفال ليقول لهم انهم ليسوا وحدهم وان هناك من يشاطرهم معاناتهم. رسالة حسين هذه لم تكن خطوة فردية منه وإنما جزء من مبادرة نظمتها ورعتها منظمة الرعاية ” Care” وذلك لتبادل الرسائل بين لاجئين من مختلف أصقاع الأرض وتجمعهم العديد من القواسم المشتركة: لا أحد منهم يعلم متى سوف يعودون إلى ديارهم مثلاً أو حتى إذا أضحت هذه العودة ممكنة أصلاً. يعيش اللاجئون الصوماليون الذين تبادلوا الرسائل في مخيم داداب للاجئين ويقع في كينيا في أقصى الشمال حيث يعيش أكثر من 400,000 أربعمئة ألف لاجئ فروا من الحرب الاهلية والمجاعة والجفاف في بلادهم. أما في سوريا فتقدر منظمات الأمم المتحدة أن هناك أكثر من 2,75 مليون لاجئ تركوا بلادهم. استمر في القراءة

توجّه عدد من الزعماء والمبعوثين رفيعي المستوى مؤخراً إلى العصمة الروسية موسكو للقاء الرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتين سعياً للحد من تفاقم الأزمة في سوريا، وكان أول الواصلين إلى موسكو وزير الخارجية الأمريكي جون كيري، وتبعه وزير الخارجية البريطاني ديفيد كاميرون ثم رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو وآخرهم كان الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة بان كي مون، حيث يعتبر هؤلاء أن روسيا بيدها مفتاح الحل للأزمة السورية. غير أن على الولايات المتحدة وحلفائها أن يأخذوا في الحسبان المصالح الروسية المهمة في حوض البحر الأبيض المتوسط في حال رغبوا بتعاونها للوصول إلى حل يعيد الاستقرار لسوريا. استمر في القراءة

إن الحكايات القصصية والتصريحات المضللة التي تشوب الكثير من التقارير عن سوريا جعلته يدرك أهمية التغطية الأكثر موضوعية لتعزيز الجهود الرامية للإطاحة بنظام بشار الأسد.
