Berlin – It has been 15 months that Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad has been murdering civilians in his country. He is ordering his thugs to massacre children and women in order to assure his own power. Until today, the West has been standing on the sidelines.
French president François Hollande (57) has already addressed a possible NATO attack on Assad’s murderous forces. The successful air war against dictator Muammar al-Gaddafi has – quite similarly – been initiated by French pressure. Now there seems to be support from Germany, too: CDU foreign expert Philipp Mißfelder said that “a well-conceived military intervention would be worth considering”.

وتأتي شهادة الرائد جهاد رسلان في الوقت الذي حذر فيه مبعوث الأمم المتحدة كوفي أنان أمس من ازدياد مخاطر اندلاع حرب وشيكة في سوريا، جاء ذلك في حديث له أمام اجتماع للجامعة العربية، حيث قال إن “شبح اندلاع حرب شاملة تنذر باتخاذ منحى طائفي يتنامى يوماً بعد يوم”.
وجاءت مخاوف أنان بعد تحذيرات أطلقتها يوم الجمعة الولايات المتحدة، وبريطانيا ومجلس الأمم المتحدة لحقوق الإنسان، الذي قام بالتصويت بالأغلبية على إدانة النظام السوري لاربكابه عمليات القتل في بلدة الحولة.
نشر موقع تابع للحكومة الأمريكية يوم الجمعة ما قال إنه أدلة فوتوغرافية عن مقابر جماعية وهجمات شنتها قوات حكومية سورية على المناطق المدنية.
وقد قام الموقع، الذي يديره مكتب وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية، بنشر سلسلة صور التقطتها أقمار صناعية تجارية في وقت سابق من هذا الأسبوع. وتظهر هذه الصور ما ذكره الموقع بوصفها مقابر جماعية تم حفرها في أعقاب مجزرة بالقرب من بلدة الحولة.
احتاج التونسيون شهراً واحداً فقط من المظاهرات لإسقاط بن علي، بينما أجبر مبارك على التنحي بعد 18 يوماً من الاجتجاجات في مصر. تطلب تغيير النظام في ليبيا فترةً أطول حيث انخرط الثوار هناك في مواجهات دامية مع نظام معمر القذافي لأكثر من ثمانية أشهر قبل أن يتغلبوا عليه. لكن سوريا – حيث بدأت الاحتجاجات في نفس الوقت تقريباً الذي بدأت فيه في ليبيا – لا تزال عالقة في حرب أهلية ضروس، وتبدو نهاية القتال بعيدة جداً.

More than forty years of despotism, tyranny and injustice under the rule of the Assad-family regime could not strip the great Syrian people from their great history, civilization and creativity.
Today, the small town of Binnish, laying on a hill to the north of the city of Idlib, and which can be hardly seen on the global map, and which the world has hardly heard about its existence, reminds the whole world once again of the magnitude of the creativity and resilience of the Syrian people who contributed so much to human civilization. The town locals play a symbolic drama sketch commemorating the martyrs of the Hawla massacre, committed by the thugs of Assad regime.
Such a street play is a normal event in any country that respects human rights and the freedom of its people to express themselves and is a joyess occassion for townfolk. However this is Syria. The people are living under a vicious crackdown on all civil actions. The actors risk abduction, detention and torture. Even standing and watching the sketch could result in your detention.
However the will of the Syrian people is greater than any dictatorial regime can suppress. Thank you Syrian people for your creativity, your courage and ongoing contribution to humanity, under even the most horrific circumstances.
